Like a lot of babies (and kittens), Natalie has been obsessed with newspaper for months. We used to have to dig bits of it out of her mouth, try as we did to keep it all picked up and away from her. I don't remember what we were doing on this day here, but clearly, we'd just given up.

Day 323: Saturday Night

Megan worked on a mosaic for Latin class.

Natalie ate pizza and watched Megan.

Day 318: Jazzy Sunday

Sunday started out like this, slow and lazy, with some time to read the paper while Natalie followed the cats.

Hazy morning

We cleaned up and headed for Fort Worth. I had time to read more of the newspaper while Aaron drove and Natalie napped (finally) in her car seat. Here she is, pre-nap:

Car ride

We ended up at Jazz Cafe in Fort Worth. Natalie bounced and tapped a spoon to the live music and checked out a few other babies who were there. Aaron and I drank strong coffee and shared some good food. On the drive home, Natalie slept, Aaron drove, and I got to finish the newspaper.

The day ended the best way of all, with Megan coming home from her dad's.

We went outside to enjoy the sunny weather, and Natalie examined an oak leaf. She tapped it on the sidewalk and turned it in her hands. She couldn't resist giving it a quick taste.

The photo brought to mind another sweet baby of the same age, about 12 years ago, tasting a Valentine's Day carnation. I've had this photo of Megan hanging on my office wall for a decade. Seems like I took it only yesterday.
